FOOD – OUR SUPPLIERS
FOOD – OUR SUPPLIERS

“Fresh and Local” are our main criteria for choosing food. We support farmers’ markets, local farm shops, and buy from neighbours or even barter services in exchange for eggs and vegetables. Yes, we do use supermarkets as well – until we can find Cornish blueberries!

Bacon and sausages - From Lobbs’ Shop or Charles Harris - Tywardreath Butchers. Truro Farmers’ Market or Trudgian farm shop – Probus. From Tesco we buy Black Farmer.

Eggs - St Ewe or Carters.

Dairy – Rodda’s Clotted Cream. Trewithen milk.

Strawberries - Boddingtons’ – Mevagissey – made into jam at Tregerrick. We make our own blackberry jams and sauces - indeed anything from the hedgerow which provides good nutrician is saught and used.

Marmalade – Oranges from Humphreys Farm Shop made into marmalade at Tregerrick.(Obviously the Sevilles come from Spain - the conservatory, or rather the owner, would be hard pressed to produce our own!)

Cheese – Cornish varieties served at breakfast include Yarg, Trelawney, Cornish Blue, Chatel, Ct Endellion and many others. mainly resourced from Lobb's Farm Shop at Heligan Gardens.

Ham – home-baked and carved off the bone.

Bread – home-baked – daily, a different variety for each day of the week.

Kippers – Atlantis smokery – Grampound.

Muffins, pancakes and pikelets from supermarket.

Tomatoes and mushrooms – variety of producers according to season and availability.

Scones and cakes– Homemade

Packed lunches made up as requested - order the night before.
